ABOUT US

The Woven Network C.I.C was set up in 2015 as a not-for-profit enterprise aiming to support the emerging insects as food and feed sector.

Just like any newly emerging and exciting market, navigating the world of entomophagy as a UK business can be challenging. We have seen the sector change substantially since 2015. More importantly, there are more businesses in this sector now than ever before, we have grown to 25 companies in the last 10 years.

Brexit shifted the edible insect industry, resulting in the FSA tailoring Novel Food requirements imported from Brussels.

The Woven Network transformed into a professional Trade Association with a clear focus on supporting businesses navigating the Novel Food requirements.

We rebranded to the UK Edible Insect Association in early 2023.

As an organisation we value democratically elected decisions, for this reason at the end of 2021, members voted for and elected a Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors meet monthly to approve decisions, agree and review the Association's strategy, approve the Budget and subscription levels.

“I have been asked to speak about the potential of insect protein in the Houses of Parliament, at Chatham House and at academic and business conferences.”
